Mumbai......the Gate way of India

Really Mumbai is the gate Way of India.......no qualms... But this gate way to this sacrosanct land of the Hindus could have been used in a better way. This now serves as the gateway to bring drugs, smuggled jewelry....Bombs and what not!!!!!! Last but not the least they are the gate way that attracts the neighbors to step in. This situation has to be taken seriously and proper steps taken the right time would make it a gate way of sophistry and wealth.

My trip to the tip of the Indian Island was filled with a sense of insecurity!!!
I made two trips to this place in my first two weeks in Mumbai. First it was on a balmy Saturday when the sun turned wild on Bombay! After much of discouragement by people around me, I took a bus to Matunga instead of a train. Matunga was cool, I never though that this part of the world would be as great as it looked

! Posh apartments, wide concrete roads and lush green trees amid the heavy flowing traffic are matunga the madras of Bombay. (Both the city's names are changed and I get an opportunity to put it together! Hare Rama!!)...will write more...breaking for lunch .

These are the people who make the MANGALA VADHYAM team at the shanmuganatha temple(i call it so..) in Matunga. The man with white shirt plays good Gumikis and the nadaswaram guy has a good breath!!

P.S All the events took place within a span of 10 days.

First it was the

• 6 days continous downpour(din't even stop for a second)
• Riots that ransacked the city of Mumbai
• The most important one.....this made history Serial bomb blast - 7 bombs went off!

  

why all this when i landed here!!!! really this city did give me a cold welcome!!!!! very very cold!

Rains also pain!

I touched the nadir of my lifestyle this time! Hails on one side and backpack in another! What will be a tourist's reaction for a welcome by the hails? This made me feel that Mumbai is the most unwelcoming city of the world!!! mumbaites i damn u! I don’t ask you all for a xendochy, but at least a decent climate to step down!!
The next worst thing a traveler could get- traffic jams! Traffic jams refers to snarls for maximum of 15 minutes right.... but here it was the shortest jam ever which lasted for just over 3 hours!!!!!!! u imagine a tourist, a greenhorn to the city welcomed by a 3 hour jam??? That’s alright I have a strong brook which will make this a balmy wind, but the hails in the 3 hours on road were the ones that was pain in the neck!

I need to mention the scenic beauty of this place. Filled with verdant color in one side and excreta on the other, it would have been bearable if it they were of animals’, but it was humans'. This beauty can’t be explained more by words as the sense of smell is can’t be expressed in words!!!
The journey was at last complete with a ride in the mountains (never knew that Mumbai had so many hills within)....yes it was nice scenery. There was a road between two huge hills and the view of the water falls made me not to see the puddle filled road!
Ok.....Ok.....alright with all this blithe morning wind with the smoke of the diesel and the fragrance of the farts, at last we reached an office! Was it really????? Yes it was!!!
Millennium Business Park was maintained with a touch of the MH government, now imagine how things were....ok not bad at all, because all the MNC were here and all the whites frequent here.

So let me begin.......about the hasty place ......

It was on the 30th day of June 2006 that i reached the place for the first time in life!...it was for work.......!

.... was drizzling out in the way through karnataka.....but violent near kandla!!

people in the train advised me not to get down at dadar to reach navi mumbai.....

with all hope that mumbai would shower rupee bills on me....me and my friend landed there....it was dream come true i was hit by violent showers of hails.........yes it was hail strom there....it was not mumbai.....but kalyan just 45 min from mumbai.........we got there so that we can reach navi mumbai easily on that busy day......

Let me tell you all one thing, dont ever believe people say that mumbai is heaven, never ever listen to the stories of ambani landing here and minting money! Dont forget that he slept in the gutter for many years!......Mumbai is no good but for the rains........but that makes it much worser!believe me, chennai is the most happening city of all times in a mortal's life!...believe me or not......without chennai, india will be a barren land!....
